Cheney's Aid Called the CIA and NSA to Identify Reporters Working on Wilson Scandal

It was revealed this week in court room testimony that Vice President Cheney's aid (who was candidly examined in court this week during the Scooter Libby trial, called the CIA and National Security Council to identify the reporters working on the story surrounding Joseph Wilson and his wife Valerie Plame, the CIA agent compromised by the Vice President's office.

The court proceedings revealed some of the inner workings of Cheney's office.  Its distant ties and closed doors to the press forced them to turn to the Nations intelligence agency to put them in contact with active reporters working the story.  They then drew up a rating system for these reporters to determine which reporters would be the most receptive to their version of events.

Joseph Wilson had provided reports to the President through channels that Iraq did not have and was not pursuing nuclear weapons.  This report appears to have been ignored by the Vice President and not relayed to the President so that the President could make his case to go to war in 2003.  Once the story surfaced the Vice President's office (specific person to blame not yet identified) compromised Joseph Wilson's wife secret identity as a CIA operative, a violation of federal law that has gone un accounted for but did turn up a perjury charge for the Vice President's right hand man Scooter Libby.
