Britain Between Iraq and a Iran Place

The United States may be embroiled in a quagmire in Iraq, however Great Britain was the first to fall into that nasty place in between.  The capture of British soldiers on a boat in international waters creates an extremely ugly situation that will probably escalate into a much greater conflict in the Middle East.

I am not at all hopeful for a positive reconciliation in this situation.  As the soldiers were captured Iran was receiving the wrath of the United Nations with increases in the sanctions against them for their unwillingness to obey the rules set forth by the UN regarding nuclear proliferation.  Iran really didn't want to listen to anyone, and they have engaged repeatedly and rhetoric that shows an intent to escalate problems as opposed to reconcile and build better relationships.  Iran has been sponsoring terrorists and guerrillas in Iraq to great effect in essence copying the US strategy of funding guerrillas in Afghanistan which Russia might have referred to as terrorist 20 years ago.

From Iran's perspective no matter how irrational that is, they feel that an escalation only serves to help them improve their status and their wealth in the world.  They do not fully comprehend the structure that might come upon them if they wore were to break out.  They have had 27 years to reflect on their takeover of the country and they feel indestructible.  The price they paid for the takeover was extremely low and they are just now approaching the point where they might actually have to pay a long unpaid bill.  Ignorance of the true cost they are walking forward blindly charging up more expenses as they go.
