Here They Come to Save the Day! . . . yeah Right

Senator Joe Biden through his name officially into the ring for Presidential Candidate for the Democratic Party in 2008.  Ex-Senator John Edwards has pre-announced that he will announce his decision to run also this Thursday from New Orleans.

Current polls show Edwards tied for first as a likely Presidential nominee if the elections were held today, but technically its still 2006 and there is a long way to go between now and then.

Edwards has been a strong voice standing up for inequity in class struggles and so people seem to understand what he is about even though he seems to be riding a one trick pony.  Between now and the election he needs to come up with the perception that he can handle foreign policy, a war or two, a massive national debt and much much more.  He's popular and more tested than today's other top contender Barak Obama, but no one can claim that he is overflowing with lots of experience.

Biden and Hillary Clinton seem to be lagging today, but often times the early announcers do not always hold their momentum, while the parties big money grabbers go about a more secretive campaign of raising money and exploring their options.  This gives them a nice way out if things fizzle and more latitude to do what they want under election rules that are already very very broken.

Absent from either parties line up is anyone that seems like a true winner or a serious problem solver, so there may be under dogs in the race but its doubtful that we will see an election where a true Underdog will Save the Day.
