Lame Ducks Plant Time Bomb for 11oth Congress

Not since the Clinton Administration left the White House with reports of vandalism and nasty pranks left behind for the incoming Bush Administration have we seen the true down in the trenchs fight that is being waged between Democrats and Republicans.

It would appear that the Republican leadership has planted something of a fiscal time bomb set to go off three to six months into 2007 after Democrats have taken control with the 110th congress.

Even before the election the Republican leadership saw the writing on the wall and not only started acting like lame ducks but started to exagerate the act.  They have dumped $460 billion in unfinished business onto the 110th congress by not finishing the job this year before closing the 109th congress.

This mess is a political strategic move that could slow the new Congress down trying to untie the knot of financial problems or take the path of least resistance and  acquiesce to President Bush's big spending initiatives.  There will not be much time for reform in the first three months and to be dogged by a half a trillion handicap before they start will not help.

This unfinished business is almost the equivalent of planting a time bomb set to go off and stop any possible momentum that the 110th might gain, just as its mounting.  Not only does it show the unrestrained poor financial management that has become the hallmark of Republican leadership over the last six years, but it borders on down right negligence.
