Beirut was not the only city on December 11, shut down with Gridlock. Kolkata, India saw a shut down from gridlock also. The city has seen three bandhs in 15 days.
A bandh is a protest or mobilization common in India that includes not just a strike but also a blockade preventing economic activity.
Meanwhile government and business leaders worry that such practices will provide the wrong message to business interested in doing business in India, not to mention the lost work days can not be recovered and the GDP suffers accordingly.
